Jesus had eight clearances, three blocks and three interceptions in Saturday's 1-0 win against Napoli.
Analysis: Jesus had his best performance yet as Venezia managed to stifle Napoli, setting a new season high in clearances. He has registered at least one in four straight games, amassing 13. This was also his fourth outing on the trot with one or more interceptions (10 total). On the other hand, he ended a three-game streak with at least one tackle. He's poised to keep leading the backline despite a coaching change.
Signs with Venezia
Jesus completed a transfer to Venezia on Monday. He signed a one-year contract with the possibility of extending it for a further campaign.
Analysis: The Brazilian joins Venezia with plenty of Serie A experience, having racked up over 300 league appearances for Inter Milan, Roma and Napoli. The veteran center-back should be a regular starter for Venezia as long as he stays healthy, as his experience will be key at the back of a recently promoted team.
Stays on the bench versus Bologna
Jesus (personal) didn't play in Monday's 3-2 loss to Bologna.
Analysis: Jesus was back in the fold after tending to a personal matter, but Napoli are in full force in the back with Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Ami Rrahmani and Mathias Olivera all healthy. Jesus (personal) will be an option for Monday's game versus Bologna, Il Mattino reported.
Analysis: Jesus has handled the personal issues that forced him to step away from the team for a couple of days before the previous match. On the other hand, Napoli have recovered some pieces in recent weeks, primarily Amir Rrahmani and Giovanni Di Lorenzo, so he'll struggle to have a regular role down the stretch. He has notched seven tackles (three won), seven interceptions and 15 clearances in his last six displays (five starts), with no clean sheets. He was an unused sub in two straight matches before his absence.
Out for Como contest
Jesus isn't an option for Saturday's clash with Como for personal reasons, Napoli announced.
Analysis: Jesus stayed in Naples to tend to a private matter that forced him to miss practice Thursday, even though he was spotted at the training center on the eve of the game. Napoli are understaffed in the back without him and Mathias Olivera (thigh), although Giovanni Di Lorenzo is back from a lengthy absence.
