Creates two chances
Paredes had one shot (zero on goal) and two chances created in Wednesday's 2-1 victory versus England.
Analysis: Paredes failed to get on the scoresheet during Wednesday's win, but he did produce a good showing. He created a pair of chances and took a poor shot, but that was expected as England controlled the first half of the match. Paredes will be stressed again in the final as he tries to cope with Spain's excellent midfield on Sunday.
Controls tempo in win
Paredes had one tackle (zero won), one clearance and one interception in Saturday's 3-1 win over Switzerland. He was injured and subbed out in the 105th minute.
Analysis: Paredes registered one block, one interception and one tackle across his 110 minutes in Saturday's 3-1 extra-time win over Switzerland, completing 112 passes from deep as the structural anchor of Argentina's midfield and providing the composure in possession that allowed his side to recirculate the ball patiently against Switzerland's ten-man defensive block for almost 50 minutes of regulation time. His availability for the England semi-final will be monitored given the physical demands of 110 minutes in Kansas City.
