Quiet outing in defeat

Analysis: Gomez registered his fewest clearances in five games despite the fact that his team faced constant threat from France's attackers Saturday. He ended the competition with 31 clearances, five blocks, four tackles and two interceptions while playing all possible minutes in a central spot. He also helped his side to a clean sheet in a couple of group matches.
