Fills in admirably against Torino
Balerdi recorded six clearances, three interceptions and one block and won one tackle in Monday's 2-0 victory over Torino.
Analysis: Balerdi got the call for the first time since moving to Roma due to Evan N'Dicka's sudden illness and had an excellent display in the back, playing a big part in shutting down the opponents. He has tallied one tackle in his three showings (one total won), posting also five interceptions.
Joins Roma on loan
Balerdi has joined Roma from Marseille on an initial loan deal that includes an option to make the move permanent.
Analysis: Balerdi arrives in Rome after establishing himself as a regular presence in Marseille's back line and should immediately compete for significant minutes in central defense. The 27-year-old brings composure in possession, physicality and the ability to progress the ball from the back, giving Roma another experienced option in the heart of defense. His versatility across different defensive setups should also help him earn a prominent role during the campaign.
