Sends in three crosses in loss

Ait-Nouri registered three crosses (zero accurate) and four tackles in Tuesday's 3-0 loss versus Argentina.

Analysis: Ait-Nouri led Algeria with three crosses on offense, but it wasn't enough to avoid the loss in their debut. The Manchester City left-back also logged the most tackles and duels won (eight) for his side. That was a good defensive effort despite de three goals allowed and the tough task of guarding Lionel Messi.

Complete left back for Algeria

Ait-Nouri is the undisputed starter at left back in Algeria's defense heading into the World Cup.

Analysis: Ait-Nouri heads into the World Cup on the back of an underwhelming debut season at Manchester City, where he managed just 12 Premier League starts and never fully nailed down his spot in Guardiola's rotation. The limited club minutes mean he arrives in North America short on rhythm, though Algeria's AFCON campaign earlier this year provided a timely reminder of what he offers at his best. Across five matches in Morocco, the left back demonstrated he can impact a game at both ends, recording 10 tackles, 11 clearances, and four interceptions to underline a defensive solidity that his attacking profile can sometimes overshadow. Going forward he created two big chances, delivered one assist, and won a penalty, showcasing the overlapping runs and dribbling in the final third that make him one of the more complete left backs at this tournament. He has yet to score at international level, and his overall impact remains tied to his ability to combine and create rather than convert. The difficulty of Group J however could significantly limit his attacking output, with Algeria likely to spend considerable periods defending against Argentina and Austria, restricting the freedom to overlap and drive forward that brings out the best in him.
