One shot on target in defeat
Mane generated one shot (one on goal) in Tuesday's 3-1 loss against France.
Analysis: Mane was unable to take advantage of Senegal's dominance in the first half as they were unable to get into the lead against France. France came back and dominated the second half and went on to win 3-1. Mane's big moment in the game came when he appeared to bring down Kylian Mbappe in the box. The referee and VAR waved the incident away and said Mbappe initiated the contact.
Set to lead Senegal attack
Mane has been named in Senegal's World Cup squad as the undisputed star of the team under coach Pape Thiaw, arriving at the tournament as one of the most recognizable and dangerous attackers in African football.
Analysis: Mane contributed 10 goals and six assists across 25 Saudi Pro League appearances this season with Al Nassr, continuing to deliver the goal-scoring output and creative contribution that have defined one of the most decorated careers in African football history. His combination of pace, technical quality, direct running and composure in front of goal make him the focal point of Senegal's entire offensive structure, and his ability to perform in the biggest moments gives the Lions a genuine match-winner capable of deciding contests on his own. For Senegal, Mane is far more than just an attacking option. His leadership, experience in major international tournaments and status as the most important player in the squad give the entire group the confidence and belief needed to compete against the strongest nations in the competition this summer.
