Scores coming off bench Monday
Simms scored one goal to go with one shot (one on goal) in Monday's 4-1 victory against Newcastle United.
Analysis: Simms found the back of the net in the 81st minute after latching onto a loose ball inside the box after Newcastle lost the ball near their own box. Simms, making his 150th appearance for the Sky Blues, took advantage of the situation and drilled an unstoppable shot past Lukas Hornicek. This was his first goal of the 2026/27 campaign, but he hasn't started a game since the season-opening loss to Arsenal. It wouldn't be surprising if Simms remains on a bench role now that Taiwo Awoniyi is set to return from his three-game suspension.
Plays 32 minutes off bench
Simms (undisclosed) played 32 minutes off the bench in Wednesday's 3-1 EFL Cup loss to Aston Villa, confirming he is back available for the Sky Blues.
Analysis: Simms had been unavailable for the recent match against Brighton for an unspecified reason, and this appearance now confirms he has returned to action. He has primarily served as a reserve option behind Taiwo Awoniyi this season, and could see increased playing time in the coming games due to Awoniyi's three match ban.
