Lacks offensive threat in defeat
Berg had one shot (zero on goal), three crosses (zero accurate) and three corners in Saturday's 2-1 defeat against England.
Analysis: Berg continued to deliver corner kicks from the left flank during his fourth straight start as part of a three-man midfield, though none of his crosses led to a clear chance Saturday. His final World Cup numbers were three shots (zero on goal), 11 crosses (three accurate), 10 corner kicks, four chances created and two assists over 444 minutes on the field.
Wins seven duels in victory
Berg recorded one shot (zero on goal), one cross (zero accurate) and one corner in Sunday's 2-1 win versus Brazil.
Analysis: Berg was efficient in midfield tasks, standing out for a team-high total of seven duels won throughout the match. Having played three full games in a row, Berg is now firmly ahead of Fredrik Aursnes in the contention for a starting position alongside Sander Berge and Martin Odegaard in Norway's three-man midfield. Over the entire international event, Berg has provided two assists from four chances created while delivering a few corner-kick crosses in recent games.
Assists winning goal
Berg assisted once to go with two crosses (one accurate) and two corners in Tuesday's 2-1 win over Cote D'ivoire.
Analysis: Berg found Erling Haaland for the winning goal during Tuesday's win. It was a brilliant bit of movement in the box to find Haaland who was free less than a yard from the goal. Berg isn't a consistent goal threat, but anybody who has the chance to pass to Haaland can earn some assists. Berg will likely be more limited against Brazil next time out.
Decent playmaking numbers
Berg registered one shot (zero on goal), five crosses (two accurate) and four corners in Friday's 4-1 loss to France. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 10th minute.
Analysis: Berg served as the primary playmaker for Norway and made his best Martin Odegaard impression, but he was unable to do much beyond taking set pieces. Berg should return to the bench, with Odegaard, Sander Berge and Fredrik Aursnes being the starting midfield trio in Norway's Best XI.
Picks up assist versus Senegal
Berg assisted once to go with one chance created and committed two fouls in 45 minutes in Monday's 3-2 win against Senegal.
Analysis: Berg wasn't particularly dynamic coming off the bench, but he fed Erling Haaland with a well-timed short cross to set up the third goal for his side. He mostly patrolled the midfield to protect the lead afterward. He had logged just nine minutes in the previous game, notching one tackle (zero won). He's competing especially with Fredrik Aursnes and Kristian Thorstvedt.
