Analysis: Romo helped his team open the scoring by winning an aerial ball that reached goalscorer Santiago Sandoval in the 23rd minute Saturday. Chivas' high possession has allowed the central man to rack up more than 50 accurate passes in four straight league contests while he continues to play all possible minutes as part of a three-man back line. The assist represented his first goal involvement of the domestic season and second in all competitions considering he also set up a goal in the Leagues Cup.
Logs six clearances in win
Romo created one chance, sent in two crosses (one accurate), made one tackle and six clearances and helped his side to keep a clean sheet during Sunday's 1-0 win over Santos Laguna.
Analysis: Romo bounced back from a so-so performance in the previous game and was simply incredible here, putting up big numbers at the heart of the defense while dominating opposing attackers with crucial interventions when the game was still scoreless. With nine tackles, 16 clearances and seven interceptions over four starts, the versatile defender is always able to fill the stat sheet and even provide some occasional playmaking with the ball.
Outstanding display Saturday

Analysis: Romo racked up all types of stats despite operating in a center-back role, with the opponents' defensive posture allowing him to move forward and create important chances during the match. In addition, he recorded team-high figures of 10 duels won and six clearances, with the latter representing his highest tally since Jan. 31. After making four World Cup appearances as a midfielder for the Mexican national team, Romo is now performing well as a defender for his club and is expected to stay in the starting lineup for the remainder of the tournament.
Unimpressive performance Sunday

Analysis: Romo failed to make an impact before exiting the match in the 61st minute of the knockout loss to England. The versatile man slowed down after scoring and assisting once in the group stage. Still, he emerged as an important member of his nation's midfield, averaging 23.5 passes, 1.5 tackles and 1.0 interceptions per contest. He'll now head back to club action with Chivas prior to the Apertura 2026 kickoff.
Creates big chance in win

Analysis: Romo put in an all-around effort, with his lone cross generating a chance that didn't result in a goal against Ecuador. The central man has now made three consecutive starts as a midfielder, as his defensive strength has granted him an edge over Brian Gutierrez and Alvaro Fidalgo. Even though his main strength comes from passes and tackling success, Romo had recorded one goal and an assist before the first knockout match.

Analysis: Romo made it a second straight game with a goal contribution Wednesday after he was the lone goal scorer in their last match, with the midfielder setting up Meteo Chavez in the 55th minute to earn an assist. That said, after not starting the opener, he now has goal contributions in consecutive games, earning his spot on the team. He has been quite clinical with his chances, only taking one shot and two chances created.
Score game-winning goal
Romo recorded one goal on one shot to go along with one chance created in Thursday's 1-0 win over South Korea.
Analysis: Romo would be the first hero of the match for Mexico on Thursday, as the midfielder would capitalize on a mistake by the South Korean keeper, kicking the ball into the back of the net in the 50th minute for a goal and the game-winner. This was a major moment for the team, as it secured their spot on top of the group. This is a great result for the midfielder after an absence from their opener, hoping this earns him more time in future games.
Leaving for international duty
Romo won't take part in the Clausura postseason after being considered in the Mexican squad that will work ahead of the World Cup, the national team announced Tuesday.
