Jakub Piotrowski
Dealing with heart condition
Piotrowski has been diagnosed with mild benign arrhythmia after the Lazio game and will undergo pulsed field ablation, Udinese announced.
Analysis: Piotrowski was initially believed to have subbed off due to extra fatigue stemming from a stomach bug, but he was diagnosed with a more serious health issue afterward. He'll have the procedure in the coming days and will have to rest completely for a couple of weeks before resuming training. He'll be back sometime in October, if everything goes well.
Exits early in Lazio mach
Piotrowski played just 15 minutes in Monday's game versus Lazio, without recording a stat, before coming out due to stomach issues, Gianluca Di Marzio reported.
Analysis: Piotrowski didn't look right from the get-go and was subbed a few minutes later after getting booked for a professional foul. He should be able to recover for next Monday's away contest versus Inter. Otherwise, Lennon Miller will draw the start in the midfield.
Scores opener Saturday
Piotrowski scored one goal to go with three shots (one on goal) and one chance created in Saturday's 3-2 victory versus Monza.
Analysis: Piotrowski put in an all-around effort that included team-high figures of three shots and three tackles, and he made the score sheet from close range during the 32nd minute of the victory. While he might not always find this many attacking chances given his defensive responsibilities in a holding midfield role, the goal was a good demonstration of his finishing skills. Moreover, he ended a streak of 20 league matches without a direct contribution.
Posts two clearances versus Torino
Piotrowski (undisclosed) had one interception and two clearances and committed one foul in 14 minutes in Saturday's 2-0 victory over Torino.
Analysis: Piotrowski was available and made a short cameo, only contributing defensively, even though the coach had almost ruled him out a couple of days before the tilt. He'll challenge Lennon Miller to start if Jesper Karlstrom (thigh) misses more time. He has notched one interception in the last three games, adding three clearances, three shots (two on target) and two blocks during that stretch. Instead, he halted a three-game streak with at least one tackle in this one.
Finds bench role
Piotrowski (undisclosed) is on the bench for Saturday's clash against Torino.
Analysis: Piotrowski made a surprise return to the matchday squad after coach Kosta Runjaic had suggested he would likely miss the fixture, recovering sufficiently from the issue he picked up in practice after playing over an hour in the previous match. The midfielder's inclusion among the substitutes is an encouraging development for a Udinese midfield already dealing several injuries in the middle of the park.
Doubtful for Torino fixture
Piotrowski (undisclosed) "will likely miss Saturday's match versus Torino," coach Kosta Runjaic stated.
Analysis: Piotrowski got hurt in practice after playing over an hour in the previous fixture and might not be available. Jesper Karlstrom (undisclosed) and Jurgen Ekkelenkamp (ankle) are also late calls in the Udinese midfield. Oier Zarraga and Lennon Miller would eventually be the next men up.
