Campaign ends in heartbreak
Diaw registered three saves and allowed three goals in Wednesday's 3-2 loss versus Belgium.
Analysis: Diaw's World Cup campaign ended on a disappointing note after he was unable to stop a late penalty, having already conceded two goals in the final minutes of regulation, including a Youri Tielemans strike that might have been prevented had he not come off his line too quickly. Stepping in for the injured Edouard Mendy against Norway, he conceded three goals but made six saves and managed to keep a clean sheet across his 237 minutes in the tournament, and given the short‑notice call‑up and backup role, he delivered as much stability as he could while closing out his World Cup run.
Keeps clean sheet Friday
Diaw registered one save and allowed zero goals in Friday's 5-0 win against Iraq.
Analysis: Diaw got the start due to the absence of Edouard Mendy (knee) and didn't have a lot of work against an Iraq attack that barely posed a threat. It remains to be seen whether Senegal will advance to the knockout stages, but if they do, Diaw could remain between the posts.
