Makes Atletico debut

Analysis: David is now available after missing Atletico Madrid's previous match with a physical issue, and his 73rd-minute introduction at Liverpool came despite coach Diego Simeone previously suggesting that his limited adaptation time could keep him out. Analysis: David completed a loan move from Juventus to Atletico Madrid closer to the transfer deadline, but the Canada international has yet to debut with Los Colchoneros. The matchup against the Reds will come too soon for him, and his next chance to play will come against Real Sociedad on Sunday, Sept. 13. With David and Alexander Sorloth (tear) out, and Julian Alvarez reportedly not expected to start, look for Ademola Lookman to get the nod upfront once again.
Completes loan move to Atletico
David will spend the 2026/27 season on loan at Atletico Madrid from Juventus.
Analysis: David wasn't expected to play a big role in Juventus after a disappointing 2025/26 season with the Old Lady, and he joins an Atletico Madrid side that needs depth in the attack with Alexander Sorloth (tear) sidelined. David should add competition to an attacking line that features Sorloth, Julian Alvarez and Ademola Lookman.

David registered three shots (one on goal) in Saturday's 3-0 defeat against Morocco. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 43rd minute.
Analysis: David led Canada in shots in this loss, but he wasn't very accurate and didn't pose a major threat to Bono. The Juventus striker, who's a candidate to change clubs this summer, scored three goals in the rout of Qatar but didn't find the back of the net in any of his other four World Cup appearances. He had three goals and 18 shots (eight on target) in the tournament.

Analysis: David would earn two shots on Sunday but was unable to help Canada score a goal, with the forward not earning a goal for a second match in a row. However, he has still been responsible for a hat trick this tournament, coming two games ago against Qatar. He has only left the field for 30 minutes all tournament and will need to have a good match if they want to upset either Morocco or the Netherlands.

Analysis: David failed to get anything going throughout Wednesday's loss, he created a pair of half-chances and failed to put a shot on goal. It's been a mixed bag for David at the World Cup, but he's still Canada's talisman heading into the knockout stage. David will need to lead this team if they want to go on any sort of miracle run.

Analysis: David has a brilliant performance and announced himself on the World Cup stage as Canada defeated Qatar 6-0. He took eight shots in the game, having also taken three in the opening game. He put a huge five of these shots on target, bringing him to six shots on target across the two games. David also had a huge importance to the opening goal, where he put a shot straight at the keeper before it fell to Cyle Larin, who was able to put it into the net after an Alistair Johnston cross.
First World Cup hat-trick for Canada
David recorded three goals on eight shots (five on target) in Thursday's 6-0 win over Qatar.
Analysis: David was a standout player Thursday as Canada throttled Qatar, scoring three of their six goals. He would begin in the 29th minute for the second goal of the match, then scoring two more in stoppage time of the first and second half. This is not only a great match for the forward, but a great match for Canadian history, as it is their first World Cup hat-trick, their first World Cup win, and inching closer to their first-ever qualification for the knockouts. David will continue to be a key part of the team, showing his true strength against Qayar after a quiet opener.
Struggles up top
David recorded three shots (one on goal) in Friday's 1-1 draw versus Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Analysis: David had a day to forget leading the line, struggling to get much done and putting just one of his shots on goal. The forward couldn't get involved in the attack and got comfortably outclassed throughout most of the match. Cyle Larin looked far more more effective off the bench than David did in the starting XI, and could take the starting job if David doesn't show some form.
Major factor for Canada
David is likely to start at forward for Canada and play a major role at the 2026 World Cup.
Analysis: David is entering the World Cup with decent expectations as he is set to lead Canada at forward for the tournament. The forward comes in following a decent first season with Juventus, notching six goals and four assists in his 35 appearances (20 starts) in league play. He will then look to build on his profile more as the World Cup kicks off, likely to be the primary goal scorer for the team, although he will play alongside Cyle Larin as well. David will already see plenty of opportunities at net and will need to if Canada wants to make it out of the group stage, also seeing some added value due to his penalty duties for the team.
