Returns from NT with contusion

Golovin picked up a knock that prevented him from staying with the Russian squad on international duty, but he's unlikely to miss a lengthy period as he deals with a contusion on a tibia, Damien Dellerba of La Diagonale reports.

Analysis: Golovin had scored a brace against Iran during the only game he was able to play in the international window before getting hurt. His injury is not expected to sideline him for any Ligue 1 matches, but his involvement could be limited in upcoming games if he requires more days to resume training. He has so far recorded more than 80 minutes in all five league games during the 2026/27 campaign, providing a pair of assists over that span. With Stanis Idumbo Muzambo (groin) recovering from his own injury, Matthis Abline could emerge as an alternative to be deployed on the left wing if Golovin is not fully fit in the short term.

Registers most crosses

Golovin recorded two shots (zero on goal), seven crosses (two accurate) and six corners in Saturday's 1-1 draw versus Strasbourg. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 90th minute.

Analysis: Golovin recorded the most crosses in the game, created three chances and also contributed defensively with two tackles. He has started all four games this campaign and has already set up two goals.

Assists in second straight

Golovin assisted once to go with one cross (zero accurate) and one chance created in Friday's 2-1 win versus Paris Saint-Germain.

Analysis: Golovin delivered the decisive contribution for Monaco, setting up Stanis Idumbo Muzambo for the match-winning goal in the 72nd minute. The midfielder has now provided an assist in back-to-back Ligue 1 appearances, establishing himself as an important creative presence early in the campaign. His ability to supply the final pass adds another dimension to Monaco's attack.

Assist on opener

Golovin assisted once to go with two crosses (one accurate) and one chance created in Sunday's 2-0 win versus Marseille.

Analysis: Golovin delivered the set-piece that led to Paris Brunner's unmarked header opener, with the German converting from the second phase of the corner after Conrad Jonathan Egan-Riley lost his man, and also provided one accurate cross from two attempts across 81 minutes before being replaced. He created one chance in total and was a persistent presence in Monaco's attacking structure throughout a first half where the Monegasques controlled the tempo comfortably. Golovin now has one assist in two Ligue 1 appearances this season and his combination with Brunner in Monaco's attack is already emerging as one of the more productive in the division.

Fully fit in preseason

Golovin is fully fit heading into preseason with Monaco after recovering from a finger fracture that ended his season early, the club posted.

Analysis: Golovin finished last season with five goals and six assists, adding 37 chances created, 45 crosses and 39 shots across 32 appearances in all competitions, cementing his role as one of Monaco's most important creative presences. With a clean bill of health entering preseason, he looks well positioned to pick up where he left off as a focal point of the attack under new coach Filipe Luis heading into the 2026/27 season.

Suffers finger fracture

Golovin has been ruled out of Sunday's season finale against Strasbourg due to a right hand finger fracture, according to the club.

Analysis: Golovin ends the campaign with five goals, six assists, 37 chances created, 45 crosses and 39 shots across 32 appearances in all competitions, having been one of Monaco's most important creative presences throughout the season. Ansu Fati is expected to step into his spot in the lineup against Strasbourg, with the club hoping to have their Russian playmaker fully fit and ready to go from the very start of the 2026/27 campaign.
