Hits woodwork in final outing
Ezatolahi generated two shots (zero on goal) in Friday's 1-1 draw versus Egypt. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 79th minute.
Analysis: Ezatolahi was impressive defensively with two blocks, four clearances and two tackles and came agonisingly close to being the hero in the final minutes when his shot struck the woodwork and denied Iran a valuable result. He ends the tournament without a goal despite taking six shots, a bitter note for a player who contributed so much defensively with six tackles, seven interceptions and eight clearances across the group stage.
Set for suspension
Ezatolahi picked up his second yellow card of the tournament across three group stage matches and will be automatically suspended for the round of 32 if Iran advance as one of the best third-placed teams.
Analysis: Ezatolahi's suspension would be a notable blow for Iran's midfield setup should they qualify for the knockout stage, with the federation needing to find a replacement option in his absence.
