Loses starting role
Bigas has seen his role diminish under the new manager, with the switch to a back four leaving him on the bench for the last three matches, though Federico Redondo's suspension could give him an opportunity to return to starting XI against Celta Vigo.
Analysis: Bigas has long been a key presence in the back line, but the experienced defender has seen his playing time significantly reduced under the new manager. The coach's shift to a back four has relegated him to the bench for the last three matches, with Victor Chust and natural midfielder Federico Redondo preferred in central defense. Redondo's red card in the last outing could offer him a path back into the starting lineup, though he must impress to retain a place while also fending off competition from Kevin Lomonaco.
Fully recovered, available to play
Bigas is fully recovered and available to play Monday, despite having not featured in minutes this preseason, according to coach Martin Anselmi. "Bigas, it's true he hasn't had minutes, but he's been training well and is now fully recovered to play tomorrow's match"
Analysis: Bigas had been dealing with discomfort that limited him to partial training during preseason, and this update confirms he has put that issue behind him. He was the defensive cornerstone of Elche's survival last season, finishing with a goal, three assists, 36 tackles, 29 interceptions and 107 clearances across 28 LaLiga appearances, and his availability positions him to reclaim that central role heading into the new season. Bigas is expected to compete for a starting spot as the season gets underway.
