Holds down starting center back spot
Jonny started in central defense in Alaves's derby draw at Athletic Club and remains an undisputed starter in the back line under coach Quique Sanchez Flores.
Analysis: Jonny has established himself as a regular starter across the back line for Alaves this season, although he remains totally a center-back option when he could have played on the flanks in 2025/26 for que Basques. He offers experience after nearly 200 La Liga appearances in his career and remains a fixture in manager Quique Sanchez Flores' plans. Barring injury, he should continue to see the bulk of the minutes in defense.
Three tackles in clean sheet
Jonny had one shot (zero on goal) in Friday's 1-0 win versus Villarreal.
Analysis: Jonny keeps building his case as a fixture in the back line, contributing to a hard earned clean sheet with one of his most productive defensive showings of the season. He totaled 13 defensive contributions, made up of three tackles, one interception and nine clearances, as Alaves secured back to back home clean sheets. Through his opening three league games, the center back has tallied 12 clearances, two blocks, two interceptions and six tackles.
