Not starting vs. PSG
Rodri (rest) isn't in the starting lineup for Tuesday's UCL match against PSG.
Analysis: As expected, Rodri won't be in the XI to start the game, and it seems the coaching staff is prioritizing his presence from the start in El Clasico next week. This means Marc Bernal will be deployed as the most defensive-minded midfielder in this match, slotting in the middle of the park next to Pedri and Dani Olmo.
Expected to rest vs. PSG
Rodri is expected to be rested Tuesday against PSG, according to Alfredo Martinez of Onda Cero.
Analysis: Rodri would've been a lock to start in midfield in most matches against PSG, but with El Clasico against Real Madrid this upcoming week, it seems the coaching staff has decided to rest the veteran midfielder in arguably their toughest fixture in the UCL league phase. With Rodri trending toward being rested, Frenkie de Jong and Marc Bernal are expected to compete to start in central midfield next to Pedri.
