Three goal contributions Sunday
Oyarzabal recorded two goals on five shots and one assist on a chance created in Sunday's 4-0 win over Saudi Arabia.
Analysis: Oyarzabal would start again Sunday as he now has two starts in two World Cup matches, this time only playing until half. The forward would end up bagging a goal in the 21st and 24th minutes, earning a brace in just a few minutes. That said, he would also add an assist, finding Lamine Yamal in the 10th minute. This is a great rebound after the opening tie for Spain, where Oyarzabal didn't see a touch until 35 minutes in. If he can contribute like this, it will take more pressure off some of their stars.
Five shots versus Cape Verde
Oyarzabal generated five shots (one on goal), one cross (zero accurate) and one chance created in Monday's 0-0 draw against Cape Verde.
Analysis: Oyarzabal started up top for Spain in the World Cup opener, joining Ferran Torres and Gavi in the front three with Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal on the bench due to injury. Oyarzabal had plenty of chances to find the back of the net, but he was frustrated by Cape Verde's impressive low block and only managed one shot on target. Despite his struggles in the box, he nearly won the match in the 89th minute, but his shot was blocked heroically by Pico Lopes. With Yamal and Williams back fit, it's unclear if Oyarzabal will continue to start or if Ferran Torres will move into the No. 9 position. Regardless, he is still set to play an important role in Spain's attempt at glory as his position is really the only questionable part of the team's elite roster.
