Delivers one assist
Villalibre assisted once to go with an own goal in Wednesday's 7-2 loss against Barcelona.
Analysis: Villalibre contributed to both sides of the scoreline, assisting Maguette Gueye's goal before inadvertently turning Joao Cancelo's long-range effort into his own net in the 36th minute. His touch deflected the shot beyond his goalkeeper after Cancelo had unleashed from distance, giving Barcelona a 3-1 lead. The assist provided a positive contribution on his return to the XI, though Yassir Zabiri's six goals in six appearances leave Villalibre primarily as a backup option up front.
Joins Racing Santander through 2029
Villalibre signed permanently with Racing Santander after the club exercised the purchase option included in his loan agreement from Deportivo Alaves, the club announced.
Analysis: Villalibre delivered an outstanding season in La Liga Hypermotion, contributing 16 goals and two assists across 31 appearances and setting a personal record for goals in a single professional campaign. The Gernika-born forward was one of the primary driving forces behind Racing's promotion push, with his physical presence, aerial ability and clinical finishing making him one of the standout strikers in the second division this season. His permanent arrival gives coach Jose Alberto a proven and prolific option up front as Racing prepare for their return to La Liga for the 2026-27 season.
Will return to Alaves
Villalibre will return to his parent club following the conclusion of his loan spell at Racing Santander, the club announced.
Analysis: Villalibre ended the season with 16 league goals in 31 appearances, forming a key part of Racing's attacking unit as the club secured promotion to La Liga. The club thanked Villalibre for his professionalism and commitment during a campaign that delivered a historic return to the top flight.
