ROMRe-ups contract with Roma
Hermoso had a year added to his deal, as Roma picked up their option to renew it until 2027.
Analysis: Hermoso had spent the second half of the 2024/2025 season on loan at Bayer Leverkusen and was at risk last summer, but he became a linchpin following a coaching change. He will stay put following an excellent season, during which he scored three goals, provided two assists, contributed to nine clean sheets and posted 46 tackles, 35 interceptions and 80 clearances in 34 games.
Takes two shots versus Lazio
Hermoso generated two shots (zero on goal), one interception and one clearance and won one tackle in Sunday's 2-0 win versus Lazio.
Analysis: Hermoso picked up a small amount of stats across the board defensively and was a decent presence on the opposing box as well. He has put up at least one clearance in eight rounds in a row, amassing 26, helping keep three clean sheets and adding 11 tackles (six won), five interceptions and 11 shots (three on target), with two goals and two assists over that span.
Scores and assists
Hermoso scored one goal and assisted once from two shots and one chance created in Monday's 4-0 victory over Fiorentina. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 48th minute.
Analysis: Hermoso delivered one of his best displays of the season in Monday's 4-0 win over Fiorentina, first setting up Wesley's curled second goal in the first half before adding his own finish shortly after to make it 3-0, arriving late at the back post to convert Manu Kone's cross. The Spanish centre-back also contributed defensively with one key pass, three tackles and one interception. Hermoso has now scored in consecutive home league appearances, adding an important attacking dimension to his role in the back three. He has recorded three Serie A goals across 24 appearances this season, along with 35 tackles and 27 interceptions.
