Training in full, option moving forward
Pieringer (knee) was spotted training in full without issues in recent days during the club's US training camp over the international break and is an option moving forward, the club posted.
Analysis: Pieringer had been substituted at halftime of the 3-1 win over Hoffenheim after taking a blow to the knee, with the severity unclear at the time. His full training now confirms the scare was not serious, positioning him to return to Paderborn's attack after his summer move from Heidenheim once Bundesliga play resumes on Oct. 10 against Stuttgart.
Substituted at halftime after knee blow
Pieringer stayed in the locker room at halftime of Sunday's 3-1 win over Hoffenheim and was replaced by Steffen Tigges to start the second half, according to coach Ralf Kettemann. "Pieringer felt something in his knee, that's why we made the substitution, he took a blow to the knee."
Analysis: Pieringer had completed the full first half before the change, with the severity of the issue not yet clear. Steffen Tigges went on to score the goal that sealed the club's 3-1 win, its first of the season, and Pieringer's recovery timeline will be worth monitoring as Paderborn continues its return to the Bundesliga after his summer move from Heidenheim.
