Starting in return to club action
Lira (internacional duty) is part of Cruz Azul's starting lineup to face Pumas on Sunday.
Analysis: Lira was inactive in one Liga MX week while he worked with the Mexican national team, but he had no trouble regaining a priority spot for a city rivalry clash. The versatile man is capable of delivering a balanced output while covering either central midfield or defensive roles. After making three starts at the international level, he's ready to bounce back to league activity, where he's an essential element for his team to recover possession and generate offensive play.
Out due to NT call-up
Lira won't play in the weekend's meeting with Toluca while he's away on international duty, per the Mexican national team's official website.
Analysis: Lira usually serves a key role in his side's possessions while recovering plenty of balls, and losing him will reduce their ability to win midfield duels and generate offensive play in the next clash. Still, the Cementeros have great depth in his position, as both Agustin Palavecino and Carlos Rodriguez could split Lira's workload, with Andres Montano available as a decent backup option. Despite missing a few games due to transfer negotiations, the former Pumas man has been reliable during the Apertura course and will likely regain meaningful playing time as soon as he rejoins the club.
