Yet to earn time again
Guessand has sat out the past four games for Palace after two bench appearances to begin the season.
Analysis: Guessand has not been able to make it back in the team sheet since he was challenged by the club's manager to have some better performances, struggling in the first two games of the season in a bench role. He would only play 54 minutes between the two appearances, earning one shot in his time on the field as he failed to do all that much. The question remains whether he can make a return to the team sheet in the coming games, as he has no value on the bench and could be heading for a move come January if this is the case.
Challenged to earn recall
Guessand was omitted from Saturday's matchday squad against Fulham after coach Pierre Sage was unhappy with his performance as a substitute against Manchester City, per The Athletic. "They were not in the squad because I was not happy with their performance when they came on the pitch against Manchester City. They have the opportunity to show every week and maybe they will come back with us on Tuesday."
Analysis: Guessand's exclusion represents an early setback following his summer arrival, with manager Pierre Sage opting to leave him out on performance grounds rather than because of a physical issue. He was also omitted from Palace's Europa League squad, increasing the importance of domestic opportunities as he looks to establish a role with his new club. A strong response in training could put him back in contention as soon as Tuesday's Carabao Cup match against Middlesbrough.
