Puts one shot on target

Ounahi generated one shot (one on goal), one cross (zero accurate) and one chance created in Thursday's 2-0 loss versus France.

Analysis: Ounahi was starting once again for Morocco on Thursday, starting in all but one of their six World Cup matches. The midfielder notched one shot, a chance created and a cross in the attack, unable to score despite his shot being on target. He would earn his only two-goal contributions of the tournament in their round of 16 win over Canada, as he put a brace past the host country.

Scores twice vs. Canada

Ounahi scored two goals to go with two shots (two on goal), one cross (one accurate) and one chance created in Saturday's 2-0 win against Canada. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 45th minute.

Analysis: Ounahi broke the deadlock for Morocco early in the second half with a beautiful curled effort following a set-piece assist from Achraf Hakimi. He doubled the team's lead with a perfect finish from inside the box after a set-up from Brahim Diaz. Ounahi should keep his place in the XI for the quarterfinals since he's been a key player for Morocco throughout the tournament.

One shot taken

Ounahi recorded one shot in Wednesday's 4-2 win over Haiti.

Analysis: Ounahi was dropped to the bench as Morocco closed out the group stage, as the midfielder only played 20 minutes after two straight starts. This would leave him with only one shot taken and seven passes completed, a much quieter day than he would've wanted. A return to a starting role could come in the knockouts, potentially just seeing some rotation for the group stage finale.

Records two chances created

Ounahi recorded two chances created and one tackle in Friday's 1-0 win over Scotland.

Analysis: Ounahi was the center of a lot of action for Morocco Friday, being one of the numerous players in the squad to complete over 60 passes. However, it would not lead to much for the midfielder, only earning a few chances created. He has now started in both group stage games as he looks to make it a trifecta against Haiti in the group stage finale.

Minimal impact as playmaker

Ounahi had one inaccurate cross, two chances created, a blocked shot and an interception in Saturday's 1-1 draw versus Brazil.

Analysis: Ounahi was expected to be the main link between the midfielders and the attacking line, he struggled to make an impact outside of the two chances he created. The Girona midfielder has excellent passing range and vision, however, so he should be far more active when the Atlas Lions take on Scotland on June 19, although the Scots' physicality might pose a problem for the Girona star.

Lacking end product

Ounahi took five shots (three on goal), crossed seven times (three accurate) and created three chances during Sunday's 1-0 loss to Atletico Madrid.

Analysis: Ounahi was held off the scoresheet despite leading Girona in shots, crosses and chances created during the defeat. The versatile Ounahi has combined for 10 shots, eight chances created and 11 crosses over his last three starts but hasn't had a goal involvement since April 21st.

Converts from the spot

Ounahi scored one goal to go with three shots (one on goal) and two crosses (one accurate) in Tuesday's 3-2 defeat to Betis. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 79th minute.

Analysis: Ounahi played a key role in Tuesday's 3-2 defeat against Real Betis, converting a second-half penalty into the top left corner to level the score at 2-2 after Joel Roca had been brought down in the box by Aitor Ruibal, while adding one tackle and one interception. The Moroccan has now scored five La Liga goals this season, making him one of his side's most reliable attacking contributors from midfield in a difficult campaign that has them fighting to avoid relegation.
