Extends contract, loaned to St. Truiden
Mbuku has extended his contract with Augsburg by one year, and is being loaned to Belgian top flight side St. Truiden through the end of the season, according to the club.
Analysis: Mbuku was included in the squad for both the cup match at Cottbus and the Bundesliga opener against Schalke but did not feature in either, having made 30 Ligue 2 appearances for Montpellier last season with four goals and six assists. The 24 year old forward, who represented DR Congo at this summer's World Cup, now gets regular playing time in Belgium, including a chance to feature in the Conference League.
Back to Augsburg after loan
Mbuku will return to parent club FC Augsburg following the conclusion of his loan spell at Montpellier, the club announced.
Analysis: Mbuku returns to Augsburg after a loan at Montpellier that saw him contribute four goals and five assists in 31 appearances. He also started DR Congo's final two group matches at the World Cup. His future at Augsburg will be determined during preseason, with his production in France and on the international stage giving him a stronger case than some of his fellow returning loanees.

Analysis: Mbuku sent in five crosses and took a pair of corners during Wednesday's loss, but it wasn't enough as England controlled the match and limited Mbuku. The forward couldn't make a difference against England's brilliant backline throughout the match. Mbuku is set to play in Ligue 2 with Montpellier this upcoming season.

Mbuku generated one shot (one on goal), seven crosses (one accurate) and one corner in Saturday's 3-1 victory over Uzbekistan. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 50th minute.
Analysis: Mbuku was heavily involved throughout the game as DR Congo defeated Uzbekistan to book their place in the round of 32. The winger started for the first time in the World Cup and thought he had scored a goal, but he was judged to be offside. He took seven crosses in the game, including one corner. Of the seven crosses, he completed one, which found Yoanne Wissa who was fouled and was able to score the penalty that followed.
