Heads to Championship
Nelson has joined Bolton Wanderers from Austin FC, the club announced.
Analysis: Nelson recorded two goals and an assist in 13 MLS matches for Austin after arriving from Vancouver in a December 2025 deal. Head coach of Austin Davy Arnaud said Nelson had expressed a desire to make the move to Europe at this stage of his career. The move to the Championship gives him a fresh European opportunity after previous stints with Rosenborg and a loan at SSV Ulm.

Nelson has been called up to Canada's World Cup squad as a replacement for Marcelo Flores, the federation announced.
Analysis: Nelson's inclusion is a reward for a strong start of the MLS season with Austin FC as he scored two goals in 10 appearances for the Verdes. Nelson gives coach Jesse Marsch an additional wide attacking option heading into the tournament. The winger will now join the Canadian squad ahead of their World Cup opener against Bosnia and Herzegovina on June 12.
