Makes two saves against Puebla
Vargas recorded two saves and allowed three goals in Sunday's 4-3 win versus Puebla.
Analysis: Vargas was beaten three times and committed a big error in the first goal conceded, but his pair of saves was enough for Atlas to come away with the win. The Foxes have now given up eight goals over their last two games, and their defense no longer looks as solid as it did at the start of the tournament. Up next is a road matchup with Atletico San Luis, who have scored 11 goals across the last six games, giving Vargas a tough assignment to get things back on track.
Allows five goals to America
Vargas made one save and allowed five goals in Wednesday's 5-2 defeat against America.
Analysis: Vargas had a night to forget as the Azulcremas ran riot, and he was left with very little to do other than pick the ball out of his net. It was the second time this tournament he has conceded five goals, showing that the Atlas back line still comes apart against top-tier opposition, even as the team keeps collecting results in easier matchups. He'll get a chance to bounce back Sunday against Puebla, who have scored the second-fewest goals in the competition.
