Returns after back issue
Bizot (back) is in the starting lineup for Friday's friendly against Sevilla.
Analysis: Bizot returns to match action after the back problem that forced him off at halftime of the Carabao Cup win over Coventry City and subsequently ruled him out against Tottenham. The friendly provides an opportunity for the goalkeeper to test his fitness and rebuild sharpness ahead of the resumption of competitive action. Bizot remains the backup to Zion Suzuki, who has been manager Unai Emery's preferred goalkeeper in the Premier League and Champions League.
Out against Tottenham
Bizot will miss Saturday's match against Tottenham due to a back problem, according to coach Unai Emery. "Marco is out."
Analysis: Bizot is sidelined after being replaced at halftime of Wednesday's Carabao Cup win over Coventry City with a back issue. The goalkeeper had only recently been competing for opportunities behind Zion Suzuki, who has been manager Unai Emery's preferred option in the Premier League and Champions League. His absence therefore mainly affects Villa's depth in goal, though a longer spell out would leave Emery with fewer options behind Suzuki. Further updates should clarify the severity of the injury and Bizot's potential return timeline.
