Set for four-month absence
Sulc (knee) is set to undergo surgery after suffering a right meniscus injury during training ahead of Thursday's Europa League clash against Hoffenheim and is expected to be sidelined for approximately four months, according to the club.
Analysis: Sulc sustained the injury during a training session earlier this week, forcing him to miss Thursday's 3-0 defeat against Hoffenheim. The Czech international midfielder will require surgery on his right meniscus, with his recovery now expected to extend well into 2027. His absence represents a significant blow to Lyon's attacking options, particularly after he scored in consecutive victories against Crystal Palace and Nice. With Lois Openda also sidelined and Keito Nakamura suspended for Monday's clash against PSG, Lyon will need to rely on alternative attacking options during Sulc's extended absence.
Left out with knee issue
Sulc will miss Thursday's Europa League match at Hoffenheim due to to a small knee problem, according to manager Paulo Fonseca, per Made in Gones. "Pavel started the training session today. He had a small problem with his knee, but we don't have more information for now. He won't be there tomorrow."
Analysis: Sulc trained with the group Wednesday morning before Lyon left for Germany, but a minor knee problem kept him out of the traveling squad. The forward arrives in good form, having scored against Crystal Palace and again against Nice on Sunday. With Lois Openda also unavailable, Remi Himbert will lead the line against Hoffenheim and could do the same in Ligue 1 against Paris Saint-Germain if Sulc misses that match as well.
