Analysis: Hornicek made four saves in Saturday's 2-2 Premier League draw with Bournemouth, denying Marcus Tavernier's low free kick with the game's first chance before the Cherries winger scored the rebound, stopping a weak Tavernier effort from Adrien Truffert's lay-off midway through the first half and making two further stops in the second half as Bournemouth threatened on the counter. He was powerless on Malick Thiaw's 35th minute own goal, and had no chance on Harvey Barnes' magnificent curling strike. Hornicek and Newcastle maintain an unbeaten start under manager Matthias Jaissle with four points from three Premier League matches.

Analysis: Hornicek kept Spurs scoreless Saturday, making four saves in his first clean sheet since becoming Newcastle's No. 1. It's been a good start to the season for the former Braga keeper as he's made nine saves and conceded twice through two matches, both of which came against "big six" clubs. Next up is a home match versus Bournemouth on Saturday.
Excellent for draw
Hornicek recorded five saves and allowed two goals in Sunday's 2-2 draw versus Liverpool. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 93rd minute.
Analysis: Hornicek stopped five of the seven shots he faced during Sunday's clash, only allowing the last goal with a brilliant penalty that he nearly saved. Hornicek was excellent throughout the match and truly did enough to earn the win. He will hope to carry this sort of performance forward behind a new-look defense and midfield.
Signs five year deal with Newcastle
Hornicek signed a five year contract with Newcastle United from SC Braga, becoming the club's fifth senior addition of the summer, according to the club.
Analysis: Hornicek helped Braga reach the Europa League semifinals last season and finish fourth in Portugal's top flight, keeping 12 clean sheets while conceding just 33 goals, performances that earned him a call up to the Czech Republic's World Cup squad. The 24 year old goalkeeper spent seven years at Braga after initially joining on loan from Pardubice, establishing himself as the club's first choice starter in January 2025, and now joins Newcastle's preseason training camp in Spain to begin integrating with his new teammates. Hornicek is expected to become the new number one goalkeeper for the Magpies under the new coaching staff.
