Secures clean sheet

Hornicek had four saves and secured a clean sheet in Sunday's 2-0 win against Crystal Palace.

Analysis: Hornieck delivered an excellent performance Sunday, making four saves and winning two aerial duels in the clean-sheet victory. It was his second clean sheet of the season and his first since August. Prior to this match, he had allowed 11 goals but remained steady during that stretch, recording 14 saves despite dealing with a shaky back line in front of him.

Two saves in 1-0 defeat

Hornicek registered two saves and allowed one goal in Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa.

Analysis: Hornicek made two saves but was unable to prevent the only goal of the game from a well struck header at home. The keeper has kept one clean sheet in his seven Premier League games so far, with the only clean sheet coming in his second. He has made at least two saves in each Premier League game so far this season.

Concedes four in loss

Hornicek made two saves and allowed four goals in Monday's 4-1 loss versus Coventry City.

Analysis: Hornicek conceded four goals Monday, his second time in the last three games conceding four goals. It was a very disappointing performance for him and his defense against a side that had scored just one goal in the first five matches of the season. Next up is a trip to Aston Villa on Saturday.

Makes three saves in win

Hornicek registered three saves and allowed one goal in Saturday's 2-1 victory over Hull City.

Analysis: Hornicek turned in steady work, finishing with three saves and a high claim while guiding his side past Hull City. His start has been solid overall, entering the break with 19 saves, nine goals conceded, and one clean sheet, a dependable run despite limited support from his back line.

Rough showing in loss

Hornicek had three saves and allowed four goals in Monday's 4-1 defeat to Leeds United.

Analysis: Hornicek faced seven shots and stopped only three of them during Monday's loss. It was burn-tape for the entire team as they were trounced by Leeds right from the opening plays. Hornicek has had a decent start to the season but he hasn't taken the Premier League by storm, and the defense in front of him isn't limiting chances well.

Four saves in draw

Hornicek recorded four saves and allowed two goals in Saturday's 2-2 draw versus AFC Bournemouth.

Analysis: Hornicek made four saves in Saturday's 2-2 Premier League draw with Bournemouth, denying Marcus Tavernier's low free kick with the game's first chance before the Cherries winger scored the rebound, stopping a weak Tavernier effort from Adrien Truffert's lay-off midway through the first half and making two further stops in the second half as Bournemouth threatened on the counter. He was powerless on Malick Thiaw's 35th minute own goal, and had no chance on Harvey Barnes' magnificent curling strike. Hornicek and Newcastle maintain an unbeaten start under manager Matthias Jaissle with four points from three Premier League matches.

Clean sheet in Saturday's win

Hornicek made four saves and allowed zero goals in Saturday's 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur.

Analysis: Hornicek kept Spurs scoreless Saturday, making four saves in his first clean sheet since becoming Newcastle's No. 1. Next up is a home match versus Bournemouth on Saturday.

Excellent for draw

Hornicek recorded five saves and allowed two goals in Sunday's 2-2 draw versus Liverpool. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 93rd minute.

Analysis: Hornicek stopped five of the seven shots he faced during Sunday's clash, only allowing the last goal with a brilliant penalty that he nearly saved. Hornicek was excellent throughout the match and truly did enough to earn the win. He will hope to carry this sort of performance forward behind a new-look defense and midfield.

Signs five year deal with Newcastle

Hornicek signed a five year contract with Newcastle United from SC Braga, becoming the club's fifth senior addition of the summer, according to the club.

Analysis: Hornicek helped Braga reach the Europa League semifinals last season and finish fourth in Portugal's top flight, keeping 12 clean sheets while conceding just 33 goals, performances that earned him a call up to the Czech Republic's World Cup squad. The 24 year old goalkeeper spent seven years at Braga after initially joining on loan from Pardubice, establishing himself as the club's first choice starter in January 2025, and now joins Newcastle's preseason training camp in Spain to begin integrating with his new teammates. Hornicek is expected to become the new number one goalkeeper for the Magpies under the new coaching staff.
