One tackle in late cameo
Johnson had one tackle (zero won) in Saturday's 1-1 draw versus AFC Bournemouth.
Analysis: Johnson replaced Tyrique George in the 62nd minute and attempted one tackle without winning it across 28 minutes of action as Everton searched for a way back into the match following Alex Scott's opener. He flashed some directness down the right flank but was unable to carve out a clear-cut chance during his limited run on the pitch. Johnson has now featured off the bench in each of Everton's opening two Premier League matches, with his first start of the campaign potentially on the horizon as manager David Moyes continues to weigh his options.
Signs with Everton
Johnson has signed a four year deal with Everton from Crystal Palace, in a swap that sends Dwight McNeil to Selhurst Park, according to the club.
Analysis: Johnson finished as Nottingham Forest's top scorer with 18 goals and 10 assists in the Championship in 2022/23, playing every top flight match the following season with eight goals and three assists, before a 2023 move to Tottenham, where he scored the winner in the 2024/25 Europa League final and finished that campaign with 18 goals and seven assists across all competitions. He moved to Crystal Palace in January, where he added Conference League glory, and now brings that experience to Everton as a 25 year old Wales international capped 45 times, wearing the number 22 shirt as he begins the next chapter of his career. He is expected to hold the starting role on the right wing with the Toffees heading into 2026/27.
