Mele has joined Argentine club Independiente on loan from Monterrey, the club announced Tuesday.
Analysis: Mele made just 20 appearances for Monterrey last year across all competitions, allowing 31 goals and keeping five clean sheets as he lost the starting job to Luis Cardenas. Mele was part of Uruguay's World Cup 2026 squad, though he remained a backup and did not see the field in the tournament. He'll contend for more consistent playing time at his new club for the next season.
