Abde Rebbach
Feared quadriceps tear ruled out
Rebbach (quadriceps) has trained with the ball again Wednesday, ruling out a torn muscle fiber in his quadriceps suffered during the match at San Mames, according to Javier Lekuona of Diario AS.
Analysis: Rebbach had requested a substitution due to discomfort in his right quadriceps, a scare that had raised some concern last weekend given his heavy workload this season. This update now confirms the overload has not developed into anything more serious, and he will be available for the clash against Atletico on Oct. 10.
Suffers muscle overload in quad
Rebbach requested a substitution due to discomfort in his right quadriceps, according to coach Quique Sanchez Flores, per El Correo. "We've used him in these three matches and stretched him a bit, he's been one of the few players who has had to take the beating and we knew this moment would come, but I think it's not a serious injury, it's an overload, and he now has many days to recover."
Analysis: Rebbach has been an ever present for Deportivo Alaves, participating in 561 of the club's 630 minutes so far this season, the fourth heaviest workload among outfield players. He left the field with a slight limp after going down during a defensive action, and the upcoming three week break before the club's next match on Oct. 10 against Atletico Madrid gives him ample time to recover from the overload.
Struggles in service
Rebbach generated one shot (zero on goal), seven crosses (zero accurate) and two corners in Thursday's 1-1 draw versus Rayo Vallecano.
Analysis: None of Rebbach's seven crosses were considered accurate, and he failed to put his lone shot on frame. That's not a good look, especially since the match ended in a draw. Rebbach will need to improve his efficiency to remain in the starting lineup but has a tough matchup looming against a Villarreal defense which was solid in LaLiga last season.
Assists in 1-0 away win
Rebbach assisted once to go with one cross (one accurate) and one chance created in Sunday's 1-0 win against Oviedo.
Analysis: Rebbach assisted Toni Martinez for the only goal of the game as they defeated Oviedo 1-0 away from home. This was his fourth assist of the season, with the last three coming in his last five matches. He has started each of the last five matches, having only started a total of 14 games throughout the season. In these five games, he has created seven chances.
Assists in loss to Athletic
Rebbach assisted once to go with one shot (zero on goal), five crosses (one accurate) and two corners in Saturday's 4-2 loss versus Athletic.
Analysis: Rebbach set up Nahuel Tenaglia's goal midway through the second half with a perfect corner delivery. The winger, who has been playing as a left wing-back of late, has provided a spark on that flank with three assists over his last five league appearances (two starts). That will make him a valuable fantasy asset, especially ff he grabs eligibility as a defender or midfielder, due to his crossing numbers and assist potential.
Assists first in comeback to win
Rebbach assisted once to go with two shots (one on goal), 10 crosses (three accurate) and five corners in Saturday's 2-1 win against Mallorca.
Analysis: Rebbach picked up his second assist of the season, both of which have come in his last four matches. He has started a total of 10 games this season, starting in the last two matches that he has played in. He has created three chances in this match and also taken five corners and 10 crosses in total. He has created three chances for the third time this season.
Eligible going forward
Rebbach is an option again following his suspension against Real Madrid due to yellow card accumulation.
Analysis: Rebbach could return to the rotation alongside Youssef Enriquez, with both players currently expected to compete for a wing-back position. The Algerian started the last time he was available but had previously seen erratic playing time. He has produced multiple crosses in each of his last three league outings, though his value might depend on how much he gets involved in set pieces and whether he can avoid disciplinary issues.
