Limited to backup role
Steele has yet to make a Premier League appearance this season, with his playing time limited to cup competition, while he has also been named in the England squad for the upcoming Nations League fixtures.
Analysis: Steele remains Brighton's second-choice goalkeeper behind undisputed starter Bart Verbruggen and is unlikely to see regular Premier League minutes while the Dutchman is available. Steele has instead received opportunities in the Carabao Cup and should continue to feature primarily in cup competitions, with European matches potentially providing additional playing time. His place in the England squad nevertheless highlights his standing despite his limited club minutes.
Extends with Brighton
Steele has extended his contract with Brighton, according to his club.
Analysis: Steele is going to remain with Brighton moving forward for the next few seasons, inking an extension with the Seagulls until the end of the 2026/27 season. He has yet to appear this season, serving as the club's backup. That said, he should remain in a backup role moving forward, a depth option for the veteran keeper.
