Danilho Doekhi
Goes unused in Venezia tilt
Doekhi (hand) didn't play in Saturday's 2-0 win over Venezia.
Analysis: Doekhi was cleared after undergoing hand surgery, but the staff erred on the side of caution, also because Josip Sutalo and Oliver Provstgaard have been reliable so far. All three options, and also Diogo Leite, will likely get a shot in the next few rounds. Doekhi has contributed to two clean sheets and tallied 16 clearances, three blocks and two interceptions in three starts, scoring once.
Good to go for Venezia match
Doekhi (hand) has resumed practicing with special protection and will be available Saturday, Corriere dello Sport reported.
Analysis: Doekhi sat out last week, a few days after undergoing hand surgery, but he won't miss more time thanks to some precautions. He had fared well in his first start and should get the nod over either Josip Sutalo or Oliver Provstgaard. He has notched three or more clearances in his three displays, racking up 16 and adding two tackles (two own), two interceptions and three blocks, with two clean sheets.
Undergoes hand surgery
Doekhi went under the knife to address a microfracture in his right hand and will miss the next two games, Sky Italy reported.
Analysis: Doekhi got hurt in one of the final training sessions and quickly had surgery to speed up the timetable for his return. Josip Sutalo should step in for him, as Diogo Leite joined the team very recently.
Dishes out helper against Udinese
Doekhi assisted once to go with eight clearances, one cross (one accurate) and two chances created in Monday's 2-1 win over Udinese.
Analysis: Doekhi was fine in the back, racking up stats even though his team allowed one goal, and was decisive on the other end, finding Albert Gudmundsson with a nice delivery from the left wing. He recorded three or more clearances in his three outings, piling up 15 and adding three blocks, two tackles (two won) and two interceptions, with two clean sheets.
Signs with Lazio
Doekhi has inked a three-year deal with Lazio.
Analysis: Doekhi transfers to Serie A after playing for Union Berlin for the past four campaigns and departing as a free agent. He scored five goals, contributed to seven clean sheets and notched 44 tackles, 40 interceptions and 189 clearances in 34 tilts last season. He's the first signing following the departure of previous defensive stalwart Mario Gila.
Nets fifth goal of season
Doekhi scored a goal while taking two shots (one on goal), making three interceptions, four tackles (winning two) and five clearances during Friday's 3-1 loss to Leipzig.
Analysis: Doekhi prevented a clean sheet with his goal in the 78th minute while leading Union in tackles and shots. The goal was the first since November for the defender as his five goals on the season are his best return since the 2022-23 campaign.
