Does his thing against Venezia
Modric registered three crosses (two accurate), one interception and two corners and created two scoring chances in Friday's 2-0 victory over Venezia.
Analysis: Modric got the nod in this one after being eased into the season and pulled the strings in the midfield, picking up a decent amount of stats mostly thanks to set pieces. He has recorded at least one key pass, totaling three, and multiple crosses and corners in the first two matches, piling up five (three accurate) and four, respectively.
Appears as substitute against Torino
Modric had two crosses (one accurate) and two corners in Sunday's 2-1 win over Torino.
Analysis: Modric was expected to start after being active in offseason friendly games, but he was instead given 34 minutes of play as Ardon Jashari's backup. While the season opener may have come too soon for the veteran to make a full-match performance, he remains one of the team's midfield leaders, capable of making a difference through attacking play generation and long-range shooting. He's also likely to retain set-piece duties after taking two corner kicks over his short time on the field Sunday.
