Analysis: Rushworth only faced three shots during Saturday's loss, it's disappointing in a sense, as he only faced three shots against one of the top attacks. Still allowing only a single goal in such a difficult match isn't a bad performance at all. Rushworth will have to stand tall this season, as he's likely to face some heavy volume in every match.
Beaten by late winner

Analysis: Rushworth made his only save against Nobel Mendy's long-range effort shortly after halftime before being beaten by Liam Millar in the 82nd minute. The goalkeeper has conceded four goals without a clean sheet through his first two Premier League appearances. Rushworth should continue to have plenty of opportunities to demonstrate his shot-stopping ability following Coventry's promotion, with Manchester City providing a particularly demanding test next.

Analysis: Rushworth only faced five shots against the reigning champions and only managed to make a pair of saves as Arsenal proved to be too good to beat. The goalkeeper did his best, but just couldn't keep up. It's likely to be a long season for the newly-promoted side and Rushworth as they cope with the quality of the Premier League.
Signs permanently with Coventry
Rushworth has signed a permanent contract with Coventry City from Brighton, according to the club. Head coach Frank Lampard called him "A top professional, a great character. He had a huge impact on the team to help us get promoted last season."
Analysis: Rushworth won the Championship's Golden Glove award during his loan spell at Coventry last season, keeping 17 clean sheets while featuring in all 46 league matches during the club's title winning promotion campaign. The 25 year old goalkeeper, capped at England U21 level, previously had loan spells at Worthing, Walsall, Lincoln City, Swansea City and Hull City, and now makes his move to Coventry permanent as the club prepares for its return to the Premier League after 25 years. Rushworth is set to regain his starter role between the posts.
Rejoining Brighton
Rushworth is back with his parent club Brighton with his loan period at Coventry City coming to an end after the 2025/26 season.
Analysis: Rushworth was a key starter for the newly promoted Coventry side, averaging 2.7 saves and 1.0 goals conceded per contest while securing 17 clean sheets over 46 appearances in the English Championship last season. Given that Brighton are currently well covered in goal with Bart Verbruggen and Jason Steele, Rushworth's future value is still unclear, as he could either serve as a backup option or be loaned again for upcoming seasons.
Thrives in starting role
Rushworth started in each of Coventry's 46 matches during the 2025/26 Championship season.
Analysis: Rushworth was a key player for the Sky Blues, but it remains to be seen whether he'll remain with the club for the upcoming 2026/27 campaign. Rushworth was on loan from Brighton, and he has to report to the Seagulls for pre-season duty. Coventry want to sign Rushworth on a permanent basis in the summer, though.
