Two tackles in win
Veerman registered one shot (zero on goal), three crosses (zero accurate) and one corner in Tuesday's 3-2 victory versus Villarreal.
Analysis: Veerman went the full 90 minutes in BVB's central midfield, delivering one corner and three inaccurate crosses while serving as the team's most active defensive presence in the middle of the park, helping shield the back line during stretches when Villarreal pushed for an equalizer and later a winner in the second half. He also registered one shot without testing Peter Gulacsi and played a key role in BVB's pressing structure, which disrupted Villarreal's buildup for much of the first half, while finishing the contest with two tackles won. Veerman and BVB kick off their Champions League group-stage campaign with a crucial three points and will next travel to Norway to face Bodo/Glimt on Oct. 14.
Makes first Dortmund appearance
Veerman came on in the 63rd minute of Saturday's Supercup match against Bayern Munich, making his Borussia Dortmund debut.
Analysis: Veerman's introduction marks his first appearance for his new club after recently joining from PSV Eindhoven. It also backs up the expectation that he was ready for match action despite only a short time with the squad. The midfielder is coming off a solid Eredivisie campaign, in which he scored eight goals and provided 14 assists across 30 matches played. He'll be ready for the start of the Bundesliga season and could see action as part of a rotation with Felix Nmecha and Jobe Bellingham.
