Attempts two shots
Oh logged two shots (one on goal) across 74 minutes during the Korea Republic's 1-0 loss Wednesday against South Africa.
Analysis: Up front, Son Heung-Min's struggles caused a tactical change. In his place, the Koreans used Oh and changed formations, their updated version including a supplemental striker, Hwang Hee-Chan. Oh's best contribution was the on-target shot, for which he threw his head back to head a ball that required some effort from goalkeeper Ronwen Hayden Williams. But for the most part, Oh did not find open space against a compact defense, and he was substituted off in favor of Cho Gue-Sung.

Oh scored one goal with his lone shot in Thursday's 2-1 win against the Czech Republic.
Analysis: Oh is a first-time World Cup participant for Korea Republic, having earned his nomination after scoring several goals for European clubs Genk and Besiktas during their 2025-26 seasons. Playing behind more proven veterans, he did not start Thursday but came off the team's bench in place of Korean great Son Heung-Min. Despite the tough billing, Oh more than backed up his nomination, scoring what would be Korea's game-winning goal. There have been talks about whether Oh should start up front at this World Cup, especially with Son's goal-scoring form down and movable players, and the Besiktas striker has made a valid case for at least continued opportunities.
