21 clearances at 2026 World Cup
Lajami had one tackle (one won), five clearances and one interception in Friday's 0-0 draw versus Cape Verde.
Analysis: Lajami wouldn't appear until the 57th minute Friday, getting onto the field after an injury to a fellow teammate. That said, he would make an appearance in all three of Saudi Arabia's World Cup games, only starting in one. He would earn a decent defensive record, notching two tackles won, three interceptions and 21 clearances, capped off with a clean sheet in their tournament finale.
Kept busy defensively
Ali Lajami had one tackle (one won), 12 clearances and two interceptions in Sunday's 4-0 loss against Spain.
Analysis: Ali Lajami bore the brunt of Spain's attack on Sunday, dealing with the full force of their offense. He made 12 clearances, recorded two interceptions and won two duels. Despite his efforts, he has five goals conceded to his name through the first two matches, but has a perfect 100 percent aerial duel win rate and 16 total clearances, making him a key defender in Saudi Arabia's back line at this World Cup.
