Contributes vs Crystal Palace
Murphy assisted once to go with seven crosses (two accurate) and three corners in Sunday's 2-0 victory versus Crystal Palace.
Analysis: Murphy recorded an assist Sunday while adding four key passes and a tackle won in the victory. It was arguably his best performance since stepping into a larger role during Antony Elanga's injury absence, a stretch that has seen him start the last four Premier League matches. While Sunday's outing highlighted his attacking upside, Murphy could return to a rotational role now that Elanga is back in the Newcastle squad.
Brief cameo late
Murphy recorded one cross (zero accurate) in Saturday's 2-2 draw against AFC Bournemouth.
Analysis: Murphy came on for Anthony Elanga in the 77th minute and delivered one inaccurate cross in 13 minutes of action as Newcastle pushed for what became Jacob Ramsey's late equalizer in the dying stages of the match. His introduction was part of manager Jaissle's late changes to inject fresh energy and directness into Newcastle's attack as the Magpies sought a way back from 2-1 down. Murphy has now appeared off bench in all of Newcastle's three Premier League fixtures this season.
