Another injury, out further month
Tomiyasu (calf) is out until after the next international break, according to manager Pierre Sage. "Takehiro is out until the next international break because he has another injury."
Analysis: Tomiyasu will not be returning anytime soon after already missing the past three games with a calf injury, as the defender has suffered a new injury that will leave him out for close to the next month, eyeing a return after the international break. This will leave the club with limited depth in the center of defense, although it doesn't shake up too much starting XI-wise. The main goal moving forward for the defender will be to recover and avoid further injury, already missing a good chunk of the first half of the campaign.
Calf injury keeps him sidelined
Tomiyasu (calf) will miss Sunday's Premier League clash against Brighton, extending his absence after being unable to regain full fitness ahead of the fixture.
Analysis: Tomiyasu has remained sidelined since suffering a calf injury during the draw against Leeds United, which forced him off at halftime. The Japanese defender subsequently missed the matches against Nottingham Forest and Lyon, and Sunday's omission represents another setback in his recovery. Tomiyasu has started twice this season but has yet to establish a consistent run of appearances due to his fitness concerns. Chris Richards and Jaydee Canvot remain available to cover in central defense, while Tomiyasu's next opportunity to return will depend on his progress in training.
