Elmalı supplied the assist for Aral Simsir's equalizer against Italy on Monday.
Analysis: Elamli redirected Zeki Celik's delivery across goal for Simsir, resulting in the only goal for Turkey. The left-back now has three assists in 28 senior appearances for the national team, with two of them coming in 2026. However, the 26-year-old has seen few chances with Galatasaray as he's only started once in the Super Lig despite featuring six times for the Turkish giants. Likewise, Elamli has managed no goal involvement across 167 minutes in the Turkish top flight.
Impressive at both ends
Elmali had one cross (zero accurate) and one chance created in Thursday's 3-2 win against USA.
Analysis: Elmali came into the side at left wing back ahead of Ferdi Kadioglu as Turkey made several changes following their tournament exit and delivered at both ends of the pitch. He created two chances and played a strong part in the opening goal, with his involvement leading to the move that ended with Orkun Kokcu's shot being deflected in by Baris Alper Yilmaz, even if the assist was not officially credited to him. He also had one shot himself. Defensively he was equally impressive, winning five of six duels and contributing two tackles, two interceptions, two clearances and one block. A performance that deserved a bigger stage, coming after Turkey had already been eliminated the game before. A complete performance that unfortunately arrived after Turkey's tournament was already over.
