Nets first goal with Hamburg
Moffi scored a goal while taking two shots (one on goal) during Saturday's 3-2 win over Hoffenheim.
Analysis: Moffi entered the match in the 76th minute and scored Hamburg's second goal in the 83rd. The goal was the first with Hamburg for Moffi after joining the club in the summer.
Available for Hoffenheim clash
Moffi (knee) appears to be available for Saturday's Bundesliga clash against Hoffenheim after being left off coach Merlin Polzin's latest injury report.
Analysis: Moffi has been working his way back from a knee injury that recently limited him to individual training, though he was able to participate in the team's warmup Tuesday. His absence from coach Polzin's latest injury update suggests he has made sufficient progress to be considered for Saturday's matchup. However, given his recent fitness concerns and limited involvement in team training earlier in the week, the forward could have his workload managed if he features against Hoffenheim.
Uncertain Saturday
Moffi (knee) took part in the warm up of team training Tuesday, Hamburger Abendblatt reports.
Analysis: Moffi was back involved in parts of team training Tuesday, his first time back on the pitch with the group since picking up the knee issue. After completing the warm up with the group he completed an individual session. It's an important step in his recovery, but this puts him on the wrong side of questionable for Saturday's trip to Hoffenheim.
Unlikely to face Hoffenheim
Moffi (knee) is unlikely to be available for the Oct. 10 clash against Hoffenheim as he continues to recover from a knee issue, according to Kicker.
Analysis: Moffi took a small step forward Tuesday by returning to the training pitch for light running, but he remains unable to take part in regular training. The striker had hoped to use the international break to improve his fitness after missing preseason, but the knee problem has instead limited his workload. With Patson Daka also dealing with a muscle injury, Yussuf Poulsen and Otto Stange could be the main attacking options if Moffi is unable to return against Hoffenheim.
Resumes running work
Moffi resumed running training for the first time since his layoff last week, marking another step forward in his recovery from persistent knee problems, according to BILD.
Analysis: Moffi's workload is expected to increase gradually over the coming days, though it remains unclear when he will rejoin full team training, leaving his availability for Hamburger's first Bundesliga match after the international break, at home against Hoffenheim on Oct. 10, still undetermined. He has continued working with rehab coach Sebastian Capel after the issue surfaced in the win over Koln, and his recovery will continue to be monitored as that fixture approaches.
Dealing with knee trouble
Moffi is nursing persistent knee problems and will not be part of Nigeria's squad for Friday's Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Madagascar, according to Bild.
Analysis: Moffi picked up the knee problem in the 2-1 win over Koln on Sept. 19, a match he started before being replaced at half-time by Yussuf Poulsen. He has not trained with the team in the five days since, instead working with rehabilitation coach Sebastian Capel while receiving treatment. The summer signing from Nice will remain in Hamburg to continue his rehabilitation while most of the squad takes four days off, and his availability will depend on how the knee responds over the coming weeks.
Signs with Hamburg
Moffi has signed with Hamburg from OGC Nice, the club announced.
Analysis: Moffi has played in six countries across his career, starting in Lithuania before moves to Belgium, France and Portugal, most recently spending the second half of last season on loan at Porto before this move to Germany. Across those stops he tallied 88 goals and 13 assists in 228 competitive matches, and the Nigerian international has also earned 23 caps for his national team, contributing six goals and two assists. Moffi is expected to add a physical, hard to control presence up front for Hamburg
Heading back to Nice
Moffi will return to parent club Nice following the conclusion of his loan spell at Porto.
Analysis: Moffi made 30 appearances across all competitions, contributing five goals and one assist across 1,381 minutes including nine Liga Portugal outings, seven Europa League matches, two Champions League qualification appearances, two Taca de Portugal matches and 10 Ligue 1 appearances in the first half of the season before the loan move. Moffi now heads back to Nice where his future will be assessed heading into the 2026/27 season.
