Expected to return to training soon

Kimmich (personal) is expected to return to Bayern Munich's training facility later this week after being granted time away from the club following a family bereavement, according to assistant coach Aaron Danks, per iMiaSanMia. "Obviously the line stays the same. We're giving him time to be with his family - we expect him to return to us this week. At some point this week, he'll be back at Sabener Strasse."

Analysis: Kimmich is approaching a return to Bayern Munich after missing the club's last two matches across all competitions due to a bereavement in his family. The German midfielder was absent from Wednesday's 2-2 Champions League draw against Arsenal and Sunday's Bundesliga encounter against Freiburg, with Bayern allowing him to spend time with his loved ones without imposing a strict return date. Assistant coach Danks has now indicated that Kimmich is expected back at Sabener Strasse at some point this week, although his exact return date remains uncertain. His availability for Wednesday's DFB-Pokal clash against Magdeburg is compromised, while Saturday's Bundesliga showdown against Dortmund could provide a more realistic opportunity for his comeback. Kimmich's return would represent a significant boost to Bayern's midfield options, particularly with Aleksandar Pavlovic also recovering from a calf issue. Tom Bischof could continue featuring in central midfield until Kimmich is ready to resume competitive action.

Remains out indefinitely

Kimmich (personal) has been ruled out for Sunday's Bundesliga clash against Freiburg as he continues spending time with his family following a bereavement, according to assistant coach Aaron Danks. "He's not available and will be given as much time as he needs. He's staying with his family."

Analysis: Kimmich will miss his second consecutive match after being granted time away from Bayern Munich following a bereavement in his family. The German midfielder was previously unavailable for Wednesday's 2-2 Champions League draw against Arsenal and subsequently missed Friday's training session as he continued spending time with his loved ones. Assistant coach Danks has now confirmed that Kimmich will remain absent for Sunday's encounter against Freiburg, emphasizing that the club will give him as much time as necessary before expecting him to return. No timetable has been established for his comeback, leaving his availability for upcoming fixtures uncertain. His absence deprives Bayern of an important presence in central midfield, with Tom Bischof potentially retaining his starting role alongside Aleksandar Pavlovic. Bayern will continue to manage the situation without placing any pressure on Kimmich to return before he is ready.
