Set for several weeks on sidelines
Dembele (thigh) will remain sidelined for the coming weeks after suffering a left thigh injury during Tuesday's 4-2 Champions League victory over Barcelona, according to the club.
Analysis: Dembele was forced off after just 20 minutes against Barcelona, with subsequent medical examinations confirming a left thigh injury. The French forward is now expected to miss several weeks of action while undergoing treatment, although an exact return date has yet to be established. His absence comes as another significant blow to PSG's attack, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia also sidelined following an ACL tear sustained during the same match. Ferran Torres, who replaced Dembele against Barcelona, could see increased playing time in the coming weeks, while Desire Doue and Maghnes Akliouche are also candidates for larger attacking roles.
Set for tests Wednesday
Dembele is believed to have suffered a hamstring injury after he was taken off early against Barcelona while holding the back of his left thigh, L'Equipe reports. He's scheduled to undergo tests Wednesday to determine the severity of the issue.
Analysis: Dembele played only 20 minutes during the midweek UCL match, a win that might have been too costly for PSG with both him and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (knee) forced off. Until there is more clarity on the extent of the injury, the star forward will remain in doubt for future fixtures, depending on what Wednesday's tests reveal. Ferran Torres took his place against Barcelona and would be a natural candidate to lead the front line if Dembele heads to the sidelines.
