Completes Besiktas switch
Ozcan left Dortmund and signed a three-year deal with Besiktas with the option for a fourth campaign Thursday.
Analysis: Ozcan leaves Dortmund after four years at Dortmund with a short loan spell at Wolfsburg in the 2024/25 campaign. The Turkey international, who made two appearances for his country during the World Cup, will get a fresh start in his native country. He was limited to just 11 appearances and 74 minutes of Bundesliga action in 2025/26.
Dominant defensive midfield display
Ozcan registered two crosses (zero accurate) and three tackles in Thursday's 3-2 victory against USA.
Analysis: With Turkey's tournament already over, coach Vincenzo Montella handed Ozcan his first start and the midfielder seized the opportunity. He was outstanding defensively, covering every base with three tackles, one block and one clearance while leading the entire game in interceptions with five in what was a highly impressive defensive showing.
