Sidelined Wednesday due to rest
Senesi didn't play in Wednesday's EFL Cup matchup versus Charlton as he had his workload managed, with coach Roberto De Zerbi saying "Sandro was in a plan to work with Marco Senesi yesterday, very strong, to improve their physical condition.", according to the club's official website.
Analysis: Senesi recorded 90 minutes in the initial match of the 2026/27 season but he was left out of the subsequent cup game, presumably to avoid any muscular overload. He's one of the squad's most reliable center-back options, though he's now facing increased competition for playing time with the return of the fit-again Micky van de Ven, so there's a real possibility of rotation in the short term.
Reports to Tottenham training
Senesi has returned to Tottenham's training camp as he prepares for his first season with the club.
Analysis: Senesi has joined up with his new club following his stint at the World Cup with Argentina, playing only 108 minutes across his two appearances (one start). Following his big move from Bournemouth, the defender is likely to contend for starting time immediately in the three central defender system Roberto De Zerbi runs, working alongside Micky van de Ven and their other new signing, Jan Paul van Hecke. With his five assists from his central role last season, he is an intriguing defender if the Spurs can turn things around and fix the holes in their defense, seemingly the focus this offseason after two major center-back signings.
