Scores in loss to Barca
Fofana scored one goal to go with one shot (one on goal) in Saturday's 3-1 loss versus Barcelona.
Analysis: Fofana gave Sevilla a dream start in the 19th minute, meeting Felix Correia's cross with a close-range header that beat Dominik Livakovic and put the hosts ahead. He remained one of Sevilla's more influential players and nearly helped create another opening before halftime with a backheel that released Correia, though Rodri prevented the chance from developing. Fofana was eventually replaced by Alfon in the 79th minute when Sevilla needed a scoring punch late in the second half.
Joins Sevilla on loan
Fofana has joined Sevilla on loan from AC Milan for the remainder of the season, with the deal not including an option to buy.
Analysis: Fofana arrives in Sevilla with extensive experience at the highest level, having made 88 appearances across all competitions for Milan, recording three goals and 13 assists since joining the Italian club in 2024. The 27-year-old previously totaled 175 appearances for Monaco and has also earned 25 caps for France, scoring three goals. Capable of operating as a defensive or central midfielder, Fofana should compete for a starting role in Sevilla's midfield throughout his season-long loan.
Frozen out by the team
Fofana has been put on the market and won't be involved in the first two matches, Mediaset reported.
Analysis: Fofana has been a regular in the last two campaigns, but the club and new coach Ruben Amorim have decided to go in a different direction this year. He won't be called up while the negotiations are ongoing. Ardon Jashari, Yunus Musah and Christian Comotto will absorb his minutes in the early going.
Fires four shots against Juventus
Fofana generated four shots (zero on goal), two interceptions and one block and won one tackle in Sunday's 0-0 draw against Juventus.
Analysis: Fofana finished a few actions thanks to his channel runs, pacing his side in attempts and matching his season high, but his touch in the box left a lot to be desired. He has notched one tackle in five games on the trot (four won), adding five chances created, seven attempts (three on target) and six interceptions, scoring once.
